The Roseville City Council unanimously approved a comprehensive $2.5 million renovation plan for Maidu Regional Park during Tuesday night's council meeting.
The ambitious project will transform the 152-acre park into a state-of-the-art recreational facility serving families throughout Placer County. The renovation includes replacing aging playground equipment with modern, ADA-accessible structures designed for children of all abilities.
New rubberized safety surfacing will be installed throughout the play areas, and shade structures will provide protection from the summer heat.
The park will also feature expanded walking and biking trails connecting to the existing regional trail system. City Manager Dominick Casey emphasized the project's importance to the community: 'Maidu Park is one of our crown jewels, and this investment ensures it remains a premier destination for families for decades to come.' The renovation will be funded through a combination of park development fees, state grants, and general fund allocations. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2026, with completion expected by fall 2027.
The park will remain partially open during construction, with rolling closures of specific areas to minimize disruption to visitors. Community input sessions will be held in April to gather feedback on final design elements and amenity placement.
